Demons. What are we? What are we not? Given the astonishing diversity of power, appetite, ability, and beauty found among our kind, it has long seemed curious to me that none have yet attempted a proper accounting of our various genera. I have endeavored to remedy this omission and am confident that my observations have been objective, fair, and honest. This conclusion has, moreover, been affirmed by many whose wisdom and impartiality are beyond reasonable dispute.
I, Damon, have compiled this taxonomy from observation, reason, correction, and no small amount of surviving evidence.
The reader may therefore regard this manuscript as complete and accurate. I have taken every care to exclude prejudice, superstition, and other scientifically irresponsible perspectives, admitting only those conclusions warranted by careful observation and sound judgment.
